Finding Volunteers
Successful clubs are constantly evolving, with volunteers taking on different roles and new members joining club leadership. We suggest that you regularly review term limits and identify people who could take over a role when a volunteer is ready to step down.
When building your steering committee and recruiting new volunteers, think about approaching people who:
- Represent the diversity of the 41,000 Vassar alums across the globe and in your club area.
- Reflect multiple Vassar generations, and a range of class years.
- Come from various parts of your club area (such as different parts of town, the suburbs, or locations across your state/country).
- Have the skills needed to perform leadership roles.

Use Your Vassar Networks
- Reach out to former board members, if applicable, for contacts who may be able to serve as club volunteers.
- Ask other Vassar alums in your area if they, or someone they know, may be interested in volunteering.
Search Online for Vassar Alums In Your Area
Contact Advancement For Help With:
- Email surveys to your club area asking people to volunteer
- Post-event surveys to find out if attendees might like to get more involved
- Lists of previous event attendees
- Suggestions of alums in your area who might be suited to specific positions or who are from groups that are currently underrepresented on your board/steering committee
